After a long bike ride, had a lovey chopped brisket sandwich, actually fairly lean the way I’d prefer. Got a side of brisket mac’n cheese and while tasty, was a bit small for what I paid. Could see returning to try more items off the menu.

Very good que. I ate more than a man has a right to. Brisket, ribs, potato salad, awesome beans (a meal itself with meats embedded), bacon wrapped corn on the cob, bacon wrapped smoked jalepeno stuffed with brisket and cream cheese (say what?), homemade hot sweet pickles, and finished with a house made mocha chocolate cream pie. No way you ate all that, you say. You are correct, the rest is going home with me, just so I can taunt the dog.

I've never left a review for a restaurant before, but after our first ever trip to Rider's on the way home from Oklahoma last weekend, I couldn't resist telling the world just how good this place is. I've visited places that claim to be the "best" barbecue in Texas, but I truly believe nothing compares to Rider's. While driving, we quickly did a search for local barbecue, and when we pulled off the interstate, we were a bit skeptical, I'll admit. But upon stepping foot through the front door and being greeted by great local music, plus Jim and Ardis' friendliness behind the kitchen window, we didn't feel like strangers at all. It was like we were home. The brisket was incredible, just hands down the best I've ever tasted -- you didn't even need a knife to cut it, the plastic fork went through it like butter. The brisket macaroni and cheese was perfect, the sweet tea was delicious and the homemade banana pudding to polish it all off for dessert was the cherry on top of our visit. I'd give more than five stars if I could. We will most definitely be back when we can, and it will be well worth the hour-plus trip north to Valley View. Thank you, Jim and Ardis, for a wonderful end to a weekend getaway.
