CM Construction 92

I recently requested some bids for work on a home I am moving out of and preparing to sell. One of the quotes I requested was through CM Construction with Mr. Carlos Mendez using the E-mail [email protected] and phone number 210-995-8099. At first, I was very impressed with CM and was hoping their quote was competitive. My husband and I got our realtor’s opinion on the proposed changes and made some adjustments to the scope of work, sending requests for updated quotes from the different construction companies on 22 September 2022. We heard back from one company on 23 September 2022 but did not hear back from Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction the whole week, so we contracted with a different constructing company on 29 September 2022. On 3 October 2022, Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction texted and asked if we had received the updated quote he had sent. I had not seen it in my E-mail so asked if he could check to see if the address, he sent it to was correct. After looking, it turned out Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction had sent the updated quote only back to my husband the evening of 2 October 2022. I informed Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction that because we had not heard back from him we contracted with another bidder. Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction replied back in an extraordinarily unprofessional text message. He accused us of being the reason he was unable to provide an updated quote within a week and that we had wasted his time. I understand that losing a construction bid can be frustrating but that is also a part of running a contracting business. My husband and I both work full time and have special needs twins to take care of on top of managing a move and the home construction so reliability is important to us. We waited a week but could not delay our decision any further and never pressured or rushed Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction for the quote. I found his response to learning he had lost a bid to be extraordinarily unprofessional. Be careful, because if this level of unprofessionalism continues on other jobs, I fear Mr. Carlos Mendez with CM Construction will not take responsibility for anything in the quality and timeliness of his work but will continue to blame the customers and the vendors leaving both with unsatisfactory work.
