Luminaria

This is one of the events that are so indicative of San Antonio. Once a year national, regional, and local artists in music, dance, art and performance art display and perform their art for the community. It's vibrant, diverse, and varied just like it's host city.

I've been to pretty much every Luminaria since the art festival began in 2008. I missed the last one in 2019 since I was out of town and of course one didn't take place in 2020 due to the pandemic. I was thrilled to attend in 2021 but I feel as though there were not nearly as many nor as interesting exhibits as past years. I'm going to chalk it up to the organization having to skip a year. The event is free so can't complain about price although you will probably end up paying for parking downtown. The four star rating is for the festival since its inception and not necessarily for 2021. I look forward to next year's because it really is special that San Antonio has an annual free art based event for its citizens.
