BED BUGS!!!!! I got about 20 bites in 1 night here. In the morning the breakfast seamed to be in just a random room that was more like a nursery than a proper place to eat. The food was terrible!

I don't usually review places but I had to post something because the reviews I read after booking one of those cheap deals on Hotwire where you don't know where you're staying til after you pay nearly scared me off. But I stuck it out and after a few nights there I think the complaints were either bad luck or the hotel has made some major improvements. It's an old place, and as the cheapest option in San Angelo you can't really expect a 5-star experience. But I enjoyed my stay. The rooms were adequate, clean, and free of bugs. The hot water worked great! There was construction yes so expect some noises (that we noticed during the daylight hours only). It was in a safe-ish area - not the richest part of town but definitely not sketchy and as a woman in my 20s I felt safe staying there. I wasn't worried about leaving my car there overnight. The staff was really warm, helpful and accommodating. We had one incident with some mud from the renovations getting on our car and thinking it was paint. We complained and the manager took care of it immediately. Great customer service and super nice people working there. Breakfast is provided by a diner across the street. You have to pick from a limited menu included with the hotel vouchers but I thought it was much better than a lot of the stale cereal/hard bagel/mealy apples and unripe oranges continental breakfasts at most budget hotels. All in all I thought it was a great budget place to stay.
