Chola Indian Restaurant

After reading the reviews for restaurants in the area, I chose Chola for a rendezvous with a 'friend' from San Antonio. Even with a GPS unit running, I drove around the lot for a while looking for it. The doors were locked and there was a legal notice on the window that the locks had been changed... This note is for anyone who plans to go there. Remember to Call First. When I called the phone number listed, I was told the number was 'temporarily' out of service.

Worst place to have indian food in RR area, they just dont care about customers, bad food, too steep prices compared to other good indian hotels in RR area

One of the visits, service was not the fastest. server (female student?) kept running back n forth to check if dishes on menu can be prepared ...some of the items (common dessert) listed are not in stock ..and some items are above average price however serving size was good ..large dosa fills u up, gobi 65 appetizer is also filling (dinner thali sounds enticing for very pricy 30 bucks?) ...however there is another dinner full course for 20 bucks on front page. It took a while to serve however hopefully that means freshly made. Only thing is they served everything together instead of starting with starter/appetizer, entree, rice and naan, dessert, and coffee (or depending on ur pref first coffee). Soup was not viscous and bit strong to slurp by itself however tasted good when mixed with rice (like rice sambar), saag tasted good, cooked portion of naan was good however some portion of naan appeared not so well cooked. Madras Coffee lacked sugar (that's fine, however at least keep sugar on table), gulab jamun was average. Badishop (fennel seeds as mouth fresheners after dinner) bowl near entrance was empty South Indian restr with South Indian songs (nothing against that though)...and Hindi as well hope they took care of faster service or get the menu fixed to have only items that they can serve Not sure how much soda was in the rice since had tummy bit expanded after dinner.
