The food is amazing.. Portions are huge and the staff was very friendly... Went close to closing time and she still cooked us a steak... Wonderful lady!!!

AWESOME!!💜💜💜 Friendly ...just family and yummy tasty good home cooked food. I drive 6 hours from Houston in the rain on Thursday to be first in line on Friday. ALL WORTH EVERY MILE...💜

Sad to hear that Shirley's is permanently closed. I only ate there once, but it was the best--and biggest--serving of chicken and dumplings I've ever had. My colleague and I were working a contract at Red River Army Depot and asked our hosts for recommendations for a good place to eat lunch. They initially offered up the usual staple of nearby chain restaurants. I asked if there was a good place to eat that's unique to the area--not a chain. The two ladies looked at each other and simultaneously said, "Shirley's!", and then they both looked at the clock and since it was already noon, they said we'd never make it. They explained how you had to be there by 11:30 if you wanted to eat there. So we arranged our next work day to arrive by that time. I forget the other dish she offered that day, but I ordered the chicken and dumplings and enjoyed every thick and savory spoonful. Since that visit, I have sang Shirley's praises to countless people. I have always hoped to be in that area again to enjoy another meal there. Thank you, Shirley, for turning a one-time simple lunch into a lifetime memory!
