My sister and I had a really bad experience here. We're staying in an Airbnb down the road owned by Cobb Properties. We are in town for a charity bike ride in Gatesville tomorrow morning. Our Airbnb listing advertised this quaint German establishment, so, we planned to give it a try. We've been looking forward to the experience for several days. When we arrived at Zur Autobahn, we were asked if we had a reservation, but, not told we needed one. We waited 25 minutes with no service and finally asked for water. In response, the owner said, "I have reservations tonight." There were only 4 other guests at the time. 2 people who were there when we got there and 2 who came after we got there. Don’t you think she should have been happy to have our business - she wasn’t fully booked. Finally, she took our order and brought us water. But, that probably took another 10 minutes. We shared an entree. When the bill came, there was a $4 charge we were not warned of in advance for the "share plate." I don't know what the "share plate" included. In my experience, when an establishment adds a fee for sharing, they split the entree onto separate plates for you and add double sides. At Zur Autobahn, I guess you get charged literally for an extra plate!! When we questioned the owner, she said, "This is cheap, you won't get this anywhere else". Not true. $27 for 2 brats and some steamed cabbage is way overpriced in my opinion.
