This appraiser buys and sells real estate in the city for which we are purchasing a home. Additionally, told us several times that “if we had a realtor we would know that already†referring to appraisals being under asking price. Very condescending and unprofessional. The irony is that we just paid for an independent appraisal because his appraisal was bologna and our appraisal came back $40k OVER what we paid for the house. We moved in this last Friday.
Do yourself a favor and find another appraiser. Preferably one who doesn’t buy or sell real estate in the city he is doing appraisals in.
