This is by far my favorite studio I have ever attended. I am 22 years old, and have not taken dance in the past couple of years, but previously, I took classes from age 6 to age 20, and attended many different studios in my adolescence in the Beaumont/Lumberton area. I attended smaller studios in Lumberton, as well as the two "big names" in Beaumont for a period of time, all of which were great in their own right, and have had the privilege of being trained under many different professionals. However, I definitely found my home at Dance Arts in Lumberton. I attended the Lamar Summer Dance Intensive when I was in the 6th grade, of which Miss Ginger Gondron (this studio's owner) was the ballet instructor for. I instantly loved her wit, humor, and good-natured spunk, as well as the ease and grace with which she taught and danced. I started attending Dance Arts in the 8th grade, and stayed until I was 20. The students at the studio, as well as the faculty, very quickly became like family to me, and I still to this day consider them as such. I had the opportunity to be taught by Miss Ginger, as well as volunteer under her as an assistant teacher, and I have never seen a faculty with such an incredible combination of professionalism, talent, knowledge, and good-heartedness. I attended studios as a child that, although good in many ways, I sometimes saw students criticized for their weight, or their build, etc. That will never happen on Miss Ginger's watch. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy learning the art of dance, and every student is praised for being the unique individual they are. Potential is recognized and built upon by the friendly and inspiring staff at this place, no matter your child's experience level. The choreography is fun and challenging (as well as age appropriate) and technique is taught and applied correctly. Under Ms. Ginger's instruction I made lasting friendships and memories, and grew incredibly as a dancer. I owe everything I learned about dance and discipline during my teen years to that wonderful lady and her staff. I know everybody has their own ideas of what makes a "good" studio, and opinions will always differ, as a result of the biased perspectives we all individually bring to the table. But I can offer that, objectively, this studio's staff are caring, friendly, efficient, fun, and knowledgeable in the art of dance. You won't find a better place than here to meet your "dance family".
