Not happy at all left me,after finding a new job. Now have to pay all over again for new attorney.

Absolutely lazy. Currently filing a grievance against him for extortion and frivolous charges. Matt Smith is the worst lawyer I've ever had to deal with. Charged $7500 retainer and threatened me with jail if I didn't pay $2000 to the opposing party and write a letter to an appealate court requesting that they dismiss my appeal. I later found out that the suit against me was dropped because it was illegally filed in the first place and Smith knew this. The attorneys in Longview are pretty much worthless but Matthew Smith is by far worth less than any other. Try Kate Bennett or Heightkamp...the judge seems to like the way they prance around the court room.

While it is difficult to give a positive review to any individual or firm working in family law (divorce is neither easy nor positive). In my experiences I learned there are some attorneys practicing in family courts that are not experts in that area. I have also learned how important it is to have representation certified to practice family law as well as the experience to avoid leaving potential future legal issues unaddressed. Matthew Smith is honest, direct, and knowledgeable as well as being a fierce advocate. I hope to never need to refer a friend to an attorney but if I do, there is only one I would suggest.
