I came to eat here for lunch today, 6/07/2013, to try the sushi out for myself. I was a little disappointed, but you get what you paid for. I ordered the Crunchy Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Special Eel Roll. The rolls were just 5 pieces each. I figured that since the price was just $6.00 each roll, I can’t expect to get a lot of fish in them. Each roll was packed with a lot of rice, in order to make the rolls look bigger. That is too much rice for my taste. And the rice doesn’t taste good. It tasted a little stale. The sushi is cheap, and if you aren’t a picky eater, you might like it. The food is cheap, so you can’t expect too much.

I have been a regular at the Iron Chef for 4 years and absolutely love the place and recommend it to everybody. The prices are reasonable, the quantity is awesome, the people are friendly and personal, and the sushi is always fresh and delectable. P.S. Try one of their specialty rolls called the "Dancing Roll."

Houston does not have any great sushi places that can compete with best places in New York, Chicago or LA. Still looking for the best place decided to give this place a try after seeing good reviews. I wasn't too thrilled with this place. The decoration is bit weird, the smell was weird. They had good selection of sushi including blue fin (in season) but taste was off. Portions were good and fish on the sushi was good size but the rice stuck to the plate and fell apart. No way this place can be rated 5 stars using imitation crab. The rolls had too much sauce and everything tasted really off. Staff was friendly and menu was large but if your a sushi connoisseur I would avoid this place.

I live locally and had dinner here last night and was completely impressed when I told the chef to serve me what he pleases. I had Blue Fin, Fatty Tuna, White Tuna (Escolar), Fatty Salmon and many more and it all was absolutely divine. The fish melted in my mouth as did the Uni Quail Egg Mango Shooter which was the best and most creative I have ever had. They have a good variety of rolls and sashimi including Blue Fin, nice variety of beverages as well with a great house saki. The chef delivers more of a New York style flare to his sushi definitely delivering on the freshness unlike many other Houston Sushi bars/restaurants I have visited. Much of this area is packed by Columbian, Cuban, and Mexican cuisines which typically dominate the local shopping centers however this place is a nice oasis bringing some originality and diversity to an area saturated by Latin cuisines. Iron Chef is not swank like many of the other supposed GREAT sushi bars in Houston, however this unassuming place can really deliver on the quality and freshness.
