If you read the pros and cons by now, let me be the 1st to tell you, this is a lengthy review with my time with this company. Job description: You will be using your own vehicle at your own expense for maintaince and gas. You will be following ATM technicians all over DFW to protect them from being robbed. You will be out in the elements. Rain, sleet, snow, hot, cold, all of it, just so you are aware. You also will be directing traffic (if you work days) cars will be all over the place. Good luck with that. People do not like to be told NO or directed into other lanes for ATMs. So if you are NOT a people person, not for you.PROS AND CONS: Start with the good. The good things about this job is you can pick and run your own schedule. Dispatch will work with you to setup a schedule that works for you (in the beginning) Direct Deposit check is on time. Usually by midnight. Definitely a PRO considering if you worked with a small or failing security company in the past and waitied for a paycheck to come in direct deposit or written paper checks that have bounced (personal experience). You will work alone. Nobody over your shoulder OR anybody monitoring your every move. It's total freedom. Outside in the elements, not stuck in a warehouse building. It's nice, not gonna lie.NOW, for the cons.Management is a JOKE. I was released on an account of an NCR employee twisting my words up against me about what I had "supposedly" said to him. NOT TRUE. I had NO backup from management whatsoever. "The man who writes your checks" that you will NEVER MEET or TALK TO, will throw you under the bus. You will NOT have a chance to retain your job. Management will NOT stand up for you for ANY incidents, big or small, period. So don't expect them to be at your side when you need them the most. You are using your own vehicle and own gas. GSS pays .25 cents to the mile, which even the more reputable company to work for (Quality Group) pays .30 cents to the mile. GSS is aware of that aswell. There is NO maintenance assistance. i.e oil change, tire rotation, whatever you may need help with when it comes to your vehicle, you are screwed. ANYTHING happens to your vehicle while you are on the clock, ITS ALL ON YOU. Better hope you have AAA or high end insurance before you start, fair warning. This position pays $18/HR. If you have some sort of Military background or Corrections/ LEO, you might squeak by and get $19/HR. Youll have to barter for it though. They will not openly just give it you to start. BENEFITS. ZERO. I was coming up on my one year mark in August with this company, asked about PTO...NONE. Mileage incentives. NONE. I had asked about referrals, because I had other LVL 3 and 4 Officers asking about the position.. YEP, you guessed it, NONE. It's literally just a paycheck. It was also brought to my attention that dispatch "slipped up" one day during a conversation and had told me that an Officer was living out of his car. Yes, GSS hires homeless officers. If that doesn't make you wanna rethink your employment here, I don't know what will. You will be putting an amazing amount of wear and tear on your vehicle. So if you operate an older model vehicle OR high mileage vehicle, V6 or V8, best bet is to not do this. It will eat gas and the roads will eat your tires. On average, you will put about 800 to a 1000k miles a pay period (bi-weekly), which comes out to about $225-$250 in gas. sounds good right? WRONG. Everything you earned in mileage for that pay period goes right back into the gas tank. With gas being the way it is right now, NOT WORTH IT. This job should ONLY be temporary. Keep the billa from piling up. In the meantime, your best bet is to keep applying online while you run with this company. Keep the lights on and the bills paid. I repeat, NOT. LONG. TERM. Also, don't ever tell dispatch NO, or you cant run on anyday. Dispatch will disappear on you for days in OR come up with the excuse it was "slow" NO calls. Its petty but believe me, they do it. Brings me to another point. ITS NOT CONSISTENT. You may have days where you run consistent and you may have days where you run very little. You have no idea if you are gonna run that day or not because your work load rests in the hands of dispatch. You are at mercy to whoever assigns you calls. It's a risk you are gonna have to live with. I was with GSS/ Health Care services for 9 months, wrongfully let go. I had NO prior disciplinary write-ups, NO written or verbal complaints from any technicians, always in uniform and did my job to the best of my ability. If one day GSS decides to let you go, no matter the reason, they will. They'll throw you away just like that. I'm a Veteran of the United States Army. Does that matter, NOPE. Does not matter if you ran 100k miles or sacrificed holidays with family to run when dispatch was in desperate need for you to run. STAY CLEAR. WORK ELSE WHERE.
