I am always slightly apprehensive about eating Malay/Singaporean or any kind of Peranekan cuisine. Growing up in that area it is one of those things that will always and forever taste different if not ordered from Southeast Asia. My roommate and his girlfriend dragged me there on a Friday night when it was apparent I was going to do nothing. Figured, why not I got nothing else going on. We get there and its a crowd of people at the door and nearly every table inside already seated. This was a good sign. There is a clipboard and people sign up as they show up. Analyzing the menu to death I figured out what I wanted. We ordered Beef Satay, Chicken Satay, Roti Prata, Murtabak, Cha Kway Teow, Sizzling Tofu, and I ordered a version of Mee Goreng off menu. Most of it was better than I expected. The peanut sauce was not so spicy but I have a feeling I can just ask for them to make it spicier next time. The Mee Goreng was a more Indonesian style but I didn't mind. The only item that was completely disappointing was the Murtabak.
