THIS PLACE IS NOT INDIAN AT ALL BY ANY STANDARD OR DEFINITION! DO NOT GO THERE! I am from India, and I daresay that this restaurant is no way representative of India neither in hospitality nor in the Indianness of the food they serve here. India is known for its hospitality, and the varietous cuisine. Hospitality was non-existent. The reception was cold. The fellow did not even say a word of greeting or welcome. Under normal circumstances, I would have left immediately. But on this unfortunate occasion, I was starved. So, I opted to put up with the cold reception. As this was my first visit here, I decided to order some very simple and typical Indian dishes. When food arrived at my table, I was astounded to find that they did not even meet the basic Boy Scout cooking standards. The roti was thick and only half baked. The paratha was not layered. It was just a roti pan fried with some rudimentary oil. The main dish: Lamb curry was not even mildly spicy. The sauce was evidently made from canned tomato puree. The rice was only partially cooked. It was not the Basmati rice as bragged on the menu. The fellow did notice that I had not finished any of the dishes, and yet did not bother to enquire why. This part is the most unusual of the Indian hospitality. In a real Indian restaurant, the waiter would have insisted on knowing why, and should you complain about the quality or lack of original taste, they would not charge you for that, especially when they see that the customer had taken no more than one bite (like I had). Most probably, this place is in business because they are situated on the feeder of a busy freeway (I-45). In the city centre, they will not last more than a month.

Very disappointing take out order. The Chicken Tikka Masala barely had any chicken in it, and the sauce was so watered down it had no flavor at all. The Mutton Biryani barely had any mutton in it, and tastes like plain rice with no flavor. Everything was overpriced and they even charge you $3.99 extra for rice, so when they tell you it's $10.99, the real price is $14.98 since dishes that normally come with rice at other restaurants don't come with rice here. A cheap trick to increase the price. We ate there years ago and it was good. They've certainly gone downhill since then.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been in US..The food is of Third class quality and the person there is very rude..I would give zero stars if given an option..There is hardly anyone in the restaurant except us though it is a Saturday..The rates he is charging are exorbitant. He has got no concern for the customers and their remarks..It’s better not eat and do fasting rather than going to this restaurant..Never ever to Taj again
