Lonestar Contracting Services is the type of company people warn you about when it comes to bad contractors. I can't speak to the work that they do because all they did for us was take the money and run. $11,005.31 to be exact. Milt Court, the owner, will offer a lot of excuses but in the end you find that this is one of the most dishonest people on the planet. Nothing but months of missed deadlines and broken promises. Since I have begun speaking out about Lonestar Contracting Services as well as hire an attorney I have come to learn from former customers and employees contacting me that he also has a history of not paying his builders causing liens to be placed on families homes triggering potentially ruining financial situations. I have even been contacted recently by Milt Court and told that by me sharing my honest account of what happened with his company and how we and others have been treated that it is my fault that his business is failing because essentially he can no longer rob Peter to pay Paul.

**Update: less than a year after the work, our roof is leaking.** A LSCS sales guy had stopped by our house a few months before to talk about our rough-looking roof and struck me as friendly, honest and low-pressure. When we needed our leaky attached porch cover replaced, we called him. He really wanted to redo the whole roof at the same time. We were reluctant at first but since our insurance said they’d cover it, we agreed. We described in great detail how we wanted our new porch to look. He seemed to understand and wrote up a quote, confirming with me that it included both the roof and the new porch with everything we’d discussed. We agreed and he gave us a work-start date. They rescheduled the date, then no-showed. I couldn’t get ahold of anyone until I called the owner. He put me in touch with the scheduling guy who admitted that he’d flaked on our job. He rescheduled us and promised a gift card for the error. Then they no-showed again. Then, the next work-start date, they finally showed up. (We never got the gift card.) They did the roof in one long day and it seemed like good work. However no one had any idea what was going on with the porch. This was the whole reason why we called LSCS, but to them it was an afterthought. The contractor came by for 20 minutes (the only time he’d even see the job site) and had no knowledge of the details we’d fleshed out with the sales guy. Porch cover work came on the second day. They built it like it was covering an attic instead of a gathering spot. They left the transition unfinished, leaving gaping holes to the attic. They fired nails down through the ceiling, leaving dozens of holes in the beadboard. The cross-braces were jagged and sloppy. Drip edges on the porch, stained with tar, did not line up with the house. A shingle on the transition was peeling up. They left behind dozens of nails in the grass and an empty Modelo bottle. A sales guy sent another team to address the porch problems. These guys seemed determined to get it right which gave me hope. Then they left and never returned. After more calls, a single guy showed up and nailed a board up to cover the cross-braces and sort of closed up the attic (leaving wide gaps). The other issues were never addressed. Here’s the takeaway: This is a roofing company, not a contracting team who can be trusted with anything else. They may show up, they may not. And if they do, they are only concerned with getting it finished asap. They take no pride in the result and couldn’t care less if it turns out poorly. When our neighbors ask, “Who did the work?” It’s not so they can call them up. It’s so they can be certain they don’t make the same mistake we did by hiring them.

I had a roof replaced by Lonestar Contracting Services. I am very happy with the result. There was one day that I had to call them. We were scheduled to start my job on the 4th of January. When they did not show up I called and found that they were running behind because of rain the week before. They apologized for not calling me to let me know. The job was re-scheduled for the next day. They showed up on time and almost finished up in one day. They worked with me to re locate a flashing to make sure that a flu pipe was plumb. They were very courteous and professional. They came back and finished the job a couple days later. They worked with my insurance company to help with expenses. We have had 3 inches of rain since and everything appears to be great. The roof looks beautiful. I am very pleased and would recommend these guys to anyone wanting a roof replacement.
