First Choice Power

Complete SCAM stay away from this company. Was with first choice power on a "plan" for free power after 9pm, I was paying over 170$ a month every month even though power usage was kept to a minimum during the day. Switched to a different plan and was paying 130-170 for a 1 bedroom. I guess last month the account was switched to reliant and we are now only paying 5 cents per kwh. My bill was 78 bucks. This company false advertises and lies about everything. I renewed my contract with them last year before the switch to reliant and was told it was a 2 year contract and to cancel is 300 dollars. Just found out they put me on a 3 year contract instead of 2. Scammers

They severely damaged my credit in 2022 on an alleged bill from 2019. I paid the final bill over the phone and confirmed with them that it was the final bill. Now a debt collector damages my credit without ever contacting me by phone or mail saying I owe them $211. Absolutely disgusting.

I was with First Choice Power since 2006 and they were always a great company to have service with. I enjoyed always having great rates that resulted in keeping by bills affordable and low. It was a little hard to get customer service in the early years, but they got better as time went on and now they're leaving and have moved me to Reliant. I rarely had to call for any issues with my bill or service and I hope I have as positive an experience with Reliant as I did with First Choice. Just a tip for anyone who is still with First Choice, sign up for a rate plan/contract and stick to it and you too will benefit from the great rates even when the market rates go up. If you don't and stay on a random rate/no contract, which may be low at first, it will eventually increase with the market rates. Also, if you're going to do automatic payments, it's probably best to put it on a credit card so the bill is paid a little early and on time every month.
