image First time here and was wonderful. Very friendly staff, did everything I needed done that day even though it was multiple things. Definitely coming back and staying at this office for my care.

image My hygienist was awesome and made me feel comfortable and I felt I was getting a spa for my teeth The music was relaxing and the staff is always so nice. The office area was clean and well organized.

image I'll have to say, having read all the very positive reviews, I feel like I went to a different dentist altogether (but I didn't I assure you).
I was (briefly) a new patient the The Village Dentistry this morning. Got checked in for the appointment pretty quickly and was taken back to an exam room for pictures and xrays. So far, so good.
The hygienist (or I believe maybe assistant hygienist--not sure) needed to take digital photos of my teeth, which was a bit of a fiasco (eventually requiring her to bring in an additional person to help) but eventually she got the photos I guess.
Then it came time for the xray. The hygienist placed a plastic guide in my mouth and required me to bite down forcefully on it. This was fine for the first couple of xrays, but I have an old injury which broke some bones in the roof of my mouth years ago. The bones never healed exactly right and there are a few spots on the roof of my mouth that are extremely tender. Well, she placed the plastic guide right on one of those spots. Very painful. She couldn't have known, of course, about this old injury, so I clearly told her that what she was doing was causing pain. She said "well you have to do it in order to get the xrays." At this point, I asked to speak to the dentist (so I could explain the problem). The hygienist said I was not allowed to talk to the dentist until after the xrays were complete. I told her again that she was hurting me and asked a second time to speak to the dentist. She again refused.
I am no medical ethics expert, but it seems to me that if a patient asks to speak to a doctor rather than an assistant about a medical issue, the assistant really doesn't have the right to say "no" to the patient. The assistant is supposed to be acting on behalf of the patient, just like the doctor.
Whether it's unethical or not, I certainly wasn't going to pay money to subject myself to further mistreatment, so I got up from the chair, removed the "bib" that they put on me, and left.
Honestly, I would probably not have left this review despite the poor care (maybe the hygienist was just having a bad day), but it's been 5.5 hours since I left the office and nobody has called to ask what the problem was. For all they know, they could have really injured me, yet nobody from the office has reached out. Makes me kind of wonder whether patients getting up and leaving in protest of poor treatment is a regular occurrence at The Village Dentistry?
