Went to have my teeth clean yesterday as my normal routine maintenance. Finished and went to the counter to pay. Was told what my bill was and then explained to me a breakdown of cost. Co-pay, % not covered by insurance, and then $20 for covid and the cost of ppe supplies going up. Here's my issue with that. In 42 years I've never been to a dentist who didn't wear ppe. Also, why wasn't this breakdown and hidden fee explained prior to service? Secondly, business 101 is of cost of doing business goes up. So does the cost of services. Not a hidden fee on top of co-pays that no insurance company will cover. This has nothing to do with politics or mask or no mask. Has 100% to do with the hidden cost I've never been told about in the previous year.

I visited this office for the first time for a 6 month cleaning. The lady that helped me make the appointment took my insurance information. On the day of the visit, they took me to the room, they started the x-rays, then they asked for me to verify my insurance again, I spoke with the dentist and then left. On my way back to work I get a call and the front office tells me there is an issue with my insurance and I owed $200 for the x-rays. The dentist was very nice, but I am unhappy with how the front office handled my visit. I have never been to any medical provider that does not verify insurance benefits before rendering services. As a consumer, I should know the cost of the services I am receiving before they are rendered. I was never given the opportunity to consider the cost of the service.
