image (Translated by Google) The attention from the nurses is excellent when my husband is undergoing chemotherapy
But to communicate with the reception in case of any questions or other concerns is terrible. I think that they should solve these problems since a cancer patient requires attention at a certain time.

image I was diagnosed with a mass on my pancreas on August 15, 2022. Memorial Hermann ER requested I see a GI Dr.  Took 2 weeks to see one - only to be referred to another Dr. for a biopsy that took over 2 weeks to schedule.Pancreatic cancer confirmed.  Referred to an Oncologist - that ONLY referred me to a Surgeon and a Radiation Dr. - 2 additional weeks down the line. - Circled back to Oncologist Oct 3, 2022 - ONLY to be asked to have a Pet scan done - took an additional 2 weeks to set up.  Oct 20, 2022 - appointment states - YOU HAVE STAGE 4 PANCREATIC CANCER.   We need to set you up for Chemo???????? Oct 24, 2022 - any idea what's going through my head right now?  yes thats it!  Our medical system is as broken as our justice system in Houston Tx.  We need caring Doctors like back in the 60's and 70's - the good ones are all gone.

image My mom and my experience started out hopeful with Dr. Rakkhit/Oncology Consultants a year or so ago. My mom was referred to him from the physician who completed her colon resection shortly prior to that and he was "highly rated". As you'll see based on this review, the hopeful and positive experience turned sour rather fast. Dr. Rakkhit had tried various methods of chemo on my mom who had been diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. The chemo began shortly after my mom's surgeries (colon resection and liver removal) and seemed to be helping for the most part. There were areas near my mom's colon and liver/lungs that had a spot or two (or sometimes several) that would pop up, but Dr. Rakkhit was extremely positive that the spots would eventually shrink and they'd be nothing to worry about. As usual for a cancer patient, mom had her scans (CT and the occasional MRI) every so often to check on the growth (and lessening) of the cancerous areas. Jumping into July of 2022, my mom began having excruciating pain all over. When I attended her oncology appointments with her and Dr. Rakkhit, he couldn't really explain what the pain was from besides the cancer. He stated it was somewhat rare for the medications to not help with the pain and offered to change the dosages/try new medicines and that he would refer my mom to a pain management specialist if and when the medication alterations were not successful. Out of desperation, my mom had asked what would happen if she were to go to the ER for the horrible pain and Dr. Rakkhit blatantly said that no one there would be able to help her as they don't deal with cancer. What in the world?! Beginning August 2022, mom had extreme difficulty walking and the excruciating pain still continued despite medication changes. So much so, during her last appointment with Dr. Rakkhit to review her scans from August 1st, I had to have her sit down on her walker so that I could push her in to her appointment. Mom cried to Dr. Rakkhit in pain and begged him for a solution. All this doctor did was say that he would put in an order for a referral to a pain management specialist. Additionally, upon review of mom's scans during this appointment, there weren't many changes at all to report. Fast forward to the middle of August 2022. My mom was rushed to the ER as she could not feel her legs nor could walk....in addition to the excruciating pain. To make a long story short, the ER doctors found that there was a large cancerous tumor pushing on my mom's spinal cord that was causing her pain AND also why she could no longer walk. Now how in the world were the ER docs able to find this, but the oncologist couldn't?! My mother was rushed into emergency spinal surgery in the Texas Medical Center and then ultimately only given days to weeks to live. During the surgery, it was discovered that my mom's cancer had "rapidly" spread throughout her entire body, resulting in leptomeningeal disease which is uncurable.  After constant phone calls and emails to the Oncology Consultant's office during my mom's hospital stay, no one was available to return my calls nor emails with requests to speak to Dr. Rakkhit. Not only was my mom stage four cancer, but now she was in the ER and I couldn't get ahold of someone who was supposedly caring for her during a time when I needed to speak with him most. It wasn't until he assigned his nurse to call me to give me the horrific news about my mom. From there, we eventually all had a video conference call where he claimed he had never seen a case like this before and that the scans my mom had on August 1st looked nothing like the ones she had in the ER. I find this difficult to comprehend as Dr. Rakkhit never ordered a full body scan during the past few months for my mom. How was this anything to compare?! Why didn't he put two and two together and suggest that my mom have another full body scan to try and determine WHERE the pain was originating from? The disease that my mom was diagnosed with while in surgery is part of the "cancer tree", so this could've very well been prevented if Dr. Rakkhit used common sense. We would've also been able to see the large cancerous tumor on her spine as well had he ordered another more thorough scan. Once my mom was admitted to hospice for her last few weeks, not one person from Oncology Consultants reached out to check on her or her family during this difficult time. Even after I notified them of her passing - not one phone call, email, or anything.  Long story short, please look elsewhere for you or your loved one's oncologist. I only write this as I do not want anyone else to experience what we did. Not to mention, Oncology Consultant's wait time is beyond ridiculous - even with an appointment, be prepared to wait for your oncologist for at least one to two hours on occasion.
