This place brews some of the best tasting and most experimental beers you will ever have. Their sours are out of this world. My girlfriend and I literally drive 3 hours JUST to visit this place when we can. Highly recommend for anyone exploring or already into craft beer.

  • Great Beer Now

Locally brewed craft beer is the best beer around, and that statement holds true whether its a brewery located solely in your city or one that is an expansion brewery from someplace else. Here in Houston, our breweries are most all completely independent, but there is one that expanded from another city and has developed a loyal following in a short time. Im talking about Urban South Brewery, an expansion brewery from New Orleans. Urban South is a creative brewery known for its interesting fruited sours, IPA, stouts, and other styles. The sours are the brewerys signature standouts and many are as colorful in name and appearance as they are in taste. Beers such as Double Spilled Blueberry Pie; Triple Spilled Starburst Gummie, Strawberry, Watermelon Slush; and Double Spilled Pina Colada are just a few examples of beers that are quite unlike any you have tried before. They feature fruity sour/dessert like personalities and bright colors that you dont normally see in the typical brew. The inside of Urban South Brewery is, like the beer, colorful and bright. The space is divided into a couple larger rooms with private space in the back. The bright, cheerful atmosphere makes you feel good, and I have often said that Urban South is my happy brewery. Its a place where positive vibes seem to fill the air and everyone you meet seems to be in a good mood and ready to share their happy, friendly feeling with you and others around them. Urban South Brewery doesnt have its own kitchen, but it is common to find food trucks on site. Its a not a bad idea to grab a bite to eat between beers but in many ways, food is a distraction. The beer is what you will have on your mind from beginning to end. With so many interesting flavors and styles, you will continuously want to walk up to the bar and ask for something new. Houstons brewery scene continues to expand and mature. Its great that Urban South Brewery in New Orleans decided to expand westward to Houston and I know that the brewerys many fans are thrilled to have this creative, positive, cheery place for craft beer, right here in H-Town.
