McCheek's Academy

I absolutely love this place! Ive attended the 5 week course as a total novice beginner multiple times, and Ill be back. Ive done classes with both Carole and Lori, and theyre both brilliant. Both absolutely top notch humans and great, highly-skilled creative mentors (not to mention that their work is stunning!) They expertly show you the ropes and help you do your own thing. Its a highlight of my week to come and get creative with other like-minded people in an amazing studio that always has a banger playlist. The vibe is creative, welcoming and so fun. You wont be disappointed. Thank you, McCheeks. Keep doing your thing!

I have more than 200 planters. Eight are by McCheeks Mayhem and Every Single One is in my all-time favorites collectionso thats saying something. The novel color combinations, modern shape and drip-glaze technique are why I cant stop buying these! That, plus this master pottery artist is absolutely delightful to work with. Six stars. - Tamara

Love, love, LOVE this studio and Carole, the owner! After reading the positive reviews on Google, I signed up for one of the 5 week morning clay classes. Then after the session ended, I signed up for the next sessionthen the next one, and now Ive been a student of Caroles for almost 2 years! I am just one of many, MANY loyal clients. Carole is so lovely, talented, supportive, and knowledgeable. The classes are small (10-12 maybe?) and made up of all levels. Some sessions Im the least experienced student, then other classes I have the mostmade no difference. Every class I left feeling inspired! On the Summer Kids Camp: Ive helped Carole/McCheeks Studio with a few summer kids classes. Carole came up with some of the best craft ideas and the children really enjoyed themselves! The days are perfectly executed (she has years of experience and was always well-prepared).

She makes beautiful ceramics that you will enjoy for many years. She is also an amazing teacher and can work with beginners to experienced ceramicists. I started as a beginner and have been going for a couple years now. I love McCheeks!!

I have absolutely loved coming to McCheeks and learning more about hand building and ceramics. Lori is an excellent teacher. Caroles space and artwork is stunning and inspiring. The instruction was great in giving us guidance but also allowing us artistic freedom. It was so nice to be off of screens for a few hours each week and create something with our hands. Would definitely recommend!
