Zocalo Apartments

I lived here for 2 years. First apartment I ever lived in and it was a great experience. Management always worked with me if there was a problem, the pool was always nice, overall 5 stars for Zocalo.

Jaime is literally the best! I moved from out of state and I must say, it was lot easier than any in state move Ive ever done. From the start of inquiring about the apartments/floor plans to arriving with my Uhaul on move in day he was extremely helpful and very friendly! Ive noticed a few issues with the apartment but once again, Jaime is working diligently to make sure all of my needs and concerns are addressed. Overall, Im satisfied with the staff, complex, and neighborhood. Thanks

Id like to start off and say this is NOT. paid review. Ive lived at Zocalo for the past 3 years and here is my honest opinions. If you do not care to read further, in short I highly recommend Zocalo apartments. I moved in when everything was freshly renovated and the apartments were extremely vacant. So Ive been able to really see the evolution of these apartments. A lot of my cons truly didnt bother me enough to despise my entire duration at Zocalo. Cons: I stay in a unit that does not offer a washer dryer in unit. There is a washer dryer facility. However somehow everyone does laundry the same exact day and time so sometimes I have to wait. The machines are super finicky and You truly have to master the payment system so you arent mis charged If you are mid charged you can put in a request for refund but no one gets back. So I have lot quite a bit from that. Lately the water has been turned off randomly. Or the hot water is off. I havent been effected by this because I a take a shower in the PM. But I can see how if you work early mornings that may be frustrating. I do not have any kids, but the complex has accumulated a lot of families. So there are kids playing or in the pools during nice weather. They are good kids, its just if you mind that its something to consider. Just like every other property yes, there has been break ins and stolen tires. I feel like that is just what it is. Unfortunately even in these luxury apartments no matter how much you pay. They are really good about fixing the gate if its broken. Its working MORE than its broken so thats a plus. Im not crazy about the gym area. I just wish there were weight machines, its really small but equipped with weights and treadmills. No one takes the weights so there are always weights, so again a plus side. There are no light fixtures in the bedroom and living room. Which is kind of a pain. There are light switches if you want to plug a lamp in and use the switch. But its kind of annoying. My bedroom gets soooooo hot no matter the time of the year. The circulation is not great. But I have a standing fan and crank the A/C before bed and it helps a lot. Pros The maintenance team has changed so Im unsure how they really are. But Erica has been here since the beginning and has been awesome and always helpful. The property is clean. The outside is always landscaped like clockwork and they change the plants up often. It really is refreshing especially in the summer. There are so many butterflies and ladybugs and lizards which lowkey makes me feel like im on vacation. I enjoy talking walks in the cooler weather. - When people have not been picking up after their animals they have brought someone to clean up and really enforce that neighbors respect the space. I have only seen ONE roach in the three years I have been here and I called maintenance and someone came for pest control really quickly. Maintenance is really quick to come fix things and the guys are really nice. I havent had to wait more than 48 hours to have something fixed no matter how big or small the issue was. Overall I feel really safe here. I personally have never felt unsafe, the neighbors are quiet but also look out for one another which is really nice. Neighbors are really quiet and respectful of loud music. The wall are kind of thin but its not enough to make a fuss about. I havent experienced anyone disrespectful of noise. The pool area is super cute and there is a little fire pit that is perfect to enjoy when the weather is nice. They use a Luxor One for the package, it doesnt require a fee, Ive never had an issue with packages and neighbors are really good enough returning packages that dont belong to them. Location is amazing, close to Memorial City mall, city center and other amazing local restaurants. 10 - 12 mins to the heights and 15/20 mins to downtown Houston. I loved my stay here so much I actually referred a friend and they moved into the property. They renewed their lease recently because they enjoy it as well.
