I wish I could give Valley Baptist a 5 star rating but in this situation I can't. I had day surgery that went wrong. The care I received from the nursing staff was bad. Uncaring,non-compassionate care after my surgery that's what I got. And to make matters worse the people at risk management gave me the run-around for days. Nothing will get done this will all be swept under the rug and this horrible nurse will go on treating patients like trash in their most vulnerable state. Never again will I choose Valley Baptist medical center! Nothing but gatekeeping and gaslighting here! Please think twice before trusting your care to these people.

This review is directed at the VBMC Harlingen Board Members, Doctors' Group, and Leadership. Please take time to read the entire review. This is not directed at the young minds under their instruction and they deserve better. My first experience with VBMCH was on 3/13/24 for a Pre-op visit. I arrived early per request of scheduling at 1:30pm I did not leave the appointment until 6pm. That is when I should have listened to my instincts and canceled the surgery. 3/15/24 I arrived at 8:45am per request of scheduling. After preparing for surgery I was in waiting until 1pm. Post-op I lay in recovery from 2:30pm until 7pm while the 2nd and 3rd floors bickered for hours which floor would give me a room. Once I arrived in my room I was given no food options but was given a cold sandwich and some chips. I removed the IV line in my left hand myself as it was not connected to a saline bag for more than an hour. That is when I decided to check myself out with resistance from the medical center. I would like people who read this review think twice about their choice of medical care with VBMC. Ask yourself why do they not ask "How are we doing?" Why does Google Maps not ask you, how was VBMCH ? Are you informed before services? Is anyone following up to ask how you are doing after you receive services? This is a business culture being promoted by leadership. No communication between departments. Some kind of ineffective in house complaint phone line staff can use to resolve issues between departments. That itself is a red flag and it's a disgrace. My surgeon, VBMC, nor doctor's office has contacted me to see how I am doing after services. I have know idea whether or not the surgery was successful. In full disclosure I am not from the RGV and was made to stay overnight because I had nobody to be with me after out patient surgery. VBMC would not allow me use a ride share to go home but VBMC did offer me an ambulance ride home for free in the late night, however I did not trust that to be true so I declined the ride. Valley Baptist Medical Center is ungracious, does not value you or your time even though you are a benefit to the students. And if you are considering VBMC please take the time to choose any other option, you will thank yourself in the end. Finally, read the hundreds of reviews and the hollow responses and then believe your eyes and common sense.

I am here in the waiting room at the ER. I wish i could give 0 stars. My daughter ingested a poisonous plant seed by accident. My husband did not tell the registration employee I had verified that it was a poisonous plant. I went up to the window to let the registraron person know . The female person doing registration intake was rude and defensive. She said I needed to tell the nurse and tells the nurse I had only been here 8 mins. I shared with her she didn't need to get defensive and she rolled her eyes at me. I was only concerned and sharing what had happened for.the well being of my daughter. I asked for her name and she said she wasn't obligated to tell me. She left her post to go call her supervisor right away leaving her desk without a registration person. I thought that was very unprofessional, as I thought it was unprofessional that she had a nose ring. I didn't get her name but she worked on easter Sunday 2024 around 11pm in the ER department. I guess I shouldn't be obligated to pay the hosptial (just like she didn't give her name) given the discourteous manner she provided on behalf of valley baptist. Furthermore, there weren't any rooms available and they had us wait in the waiting area to be seen which I'm pretty sure they will bill my insurance and my husband's insurance thousands of dollars. Shame on them.

Really terrible place. Nurses were very rude to my stepdad. They would get angry when he would ask simple questions. The room was so dirty and housekeeping had a bad attitude. They were impatient, rude, and so slow to resolve things. They expect the patient to do everything themselves and if you ask questions as a family member, they act like you lack intelligence. A woman in the room next to us kept crying for help for an hour and no one stopped by her room. She sounded like she was in agony and the entire hallway could hear her. This place is a poor excuse for a hospital. We talked to supervisors, doctors, nurses, you name it. Gave us the runaround over and over to our concerns. So many more things happened but I will not post them out of privacy for my family. Its a shame since people come to this hospital hoping to get better but the negligence is extremely prevalent at this hospital. Very disappointed. You cannot play with peoples lives like this.
