Mimi's Cafe in Grapevine, TX is the worst! I went there after church this past Sunday 11/17/13 expecting to get a hot delicious meal. I was met with discrimination on more than one level. I checked in with the hostess for me and my daughter. She stated it would only be a 5-10 minute wait. I turned expecting to get some coffee (while I was waiting) and both pots were bone dry. I made the hostess aware of this - she said she would take care of it and never did.
20 minutes pass then I noticed the couple that came in behind us was seated. Then the couple that came in behind them was also seated. I guess the hostess could feel the fury coming from my stare. She came over and said "she thought" I'd prefer a table. Looking at her very puzzled I stated I'd prefer the first available. After this brief exchange she proceeds to seat ANOTHER couple that came in AFTER we did. At that time I walked out. The couple that was being seated just before I left even said - "That's not right you two were here before us". I left and will NOT EVER step foot int the Grapevine location. This is the WORST service I've received at ANY restaurant, in years. By the way, All 3 couples were white and so was the hostess. Now mind you she wasn't a skinny girl and it seemed to me that she was insinuating I would not be comfortable in the booth. The is so ridiculous. I would'nt have been upset if she had asked me which I preferred upon my arrival.

Turkey Pesto Sandwhich was good. I read a review, prior to this visit, that talked about a spider coming down from ceiling and large gnats buzzing around. Well, a little brown spider came down and was hanging two inches from my wife's head. Then a couple of giant size looking gnats were harassing us. I went back and reread the review that mentioned both and it was 8 months ago!! Clean the place up because even though we had the spider and gnats the food was good.

We went in for lunch it was great food! The muffins were amazing. I cant wait to try breakfast food next time :)

I must say first that I have been to Mimi's twice before and had excellent experiences both previous times (one was a different Mimis in another state). This time however was much different. Our waiter was David. Immediately my wife noticed his tableside manner was a bit different when he walked up and said "So... Whoever's ready go ahead". We assumed this was his invitation to order, and we did. 35 - 45 minutes later we finally received or diner. First, it was not the petite filet that I had ordered. I had ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and veggies, not veggies and salad. He should have remembered making fun of my "meat and potatoes" plate when I ordered it. Second (and I'm not a food snob) the filet was terrible! It was cooked medium rare as I requested, but it had absolutely no flavor. Not even the flavor of an unseasoned pan seared our grilled steak. It was extremely disappointing. My wife had the seafood fettucini. She said it tasted like the chef had forgotten to put any seasoning on it at all. The manager was very courteous and removed my diner from the bill making it only a $25 waste of time. I'll just say that the food was so terrible that I didn't even complain about the spider that came down from the ceiling and landed on our appetizer, our the annoying gnats that were flying around our table. We will never return. Ever.
