It's a shame that the ACFW's supposed expertise produces mediocre artwork instead of pieces that reflect the city's history and values. Everytime friends or family pass the roundabout "tornado" sculpture, the first thing that comes to mind is a metal garbage can. Similarly, many "art" pieces supported by this organization are arguably revolting eyesores. My suggestion would be that Fort Worth prioritizes art installations by local, not interntational- artists, as these individuals would have better comprehension of the city. What many fail to grasp is that many modern art pieces are generic in every major city on Earth. Regardless of the "deeper" meaning applied recklessly by the creators of said art, people interpret many of the pieces at face value. Artists projecting their sense of entitlement by "evoking" feelings and wanting people to "think" about their piece is selfish, whilst they attempt to use that pathetic excuse with getting away with horrendous art (I know some pretentious individuals would consider this review as fulfilling what the "artist" wanted). Yes, art is subjective - although public input and data is not. I highly suggest public input via surveying in areas is conducted. It's exhausting having to live near art installations that are excruciatingly disgusting.
