Moorland Family YMCA at Oak Cliff

The environment is very positive, the classes are very inspiring, the remodeling is happening soon so they know that the facility needs an upgrade but this is my overall preferred location.

The two stars are generous but I wouldnt recommend this location. They are incredibly unorganized. I signed ip and paid for my son to participate in soccer over a month before its supposed to start. Here it is, starting in 5 days, and we have NO CLUE what team hes on. The mascot. When practice begins. ANYTHING! We have ZERO information. I spoke to someone last week who said we should be getting an email and I dont have ANYTHING to go on. They dont waste time taking your money, but theyll waste time getting important information to you. Now I have to request a refund and try again next year.

The only YMCA (as far as I know) in South Oak Cliff. The Moorland YMCA on S. Loop 12 was closed last year. Not only because of COVID-19, but hardly anyone came in to excercise. Myself included, lol. So, the Oak Cliff Y was reorganized. It's now known as "the Moorland Branch at the Oak Cliff YWCA", or something similar to that. It has the latest, up-to-date equipment. Being the YMCA, they will adjust your monthly dues according to your income level (bring in a W2 or award letter). The staff is nice, watchful and very welcoming of suggestions. The African-American, Latino and Caucasian clientele of all ages at the YMCA reflects the surrounding stable, middle class neighborhood. Best of all, the music is good and not corny! One afternoon I heard (RIP) Rick James AND The Internet. (The music is probably old-school to those aged 35 and under, but at least no one is being cursed out in a supposed "bop"). See you there!
