TJ's Seafood Market & Grill HP/Oak Lawn

We arrived for our 7:30 reservation. We were greeted by a red headed server/hostess. There were only two empty tables which needed to be cleared. One was the two top nearest the door opening which would have been uncomfortable each time the door opened and the other two top was right across but under a blaring bright light. The rest of the restaurant was nicely dimly lit. She said we could have either table but said we would rather wait for another. She then replied it would be 30 minutes because all the two tops had just ordered. We said we would wait. She then proceeded to pick up the check to nearby table which was then immediately vacated.  So we thought we would get that table once it was set up. Then another couple came in and redhead asked if they had a reservation. They said they did and she told them to "sit wherever they would like". Of course  they chose the most desirable table which we thought would be ours. In other words, she just ignored us standing right at the door as the other couple walked in. Tj's we supported you often throughout COVID with takeout orders. Unfortunately we will not be back for dining in or takeout if this is the type of staff you choose to hire.

10 years in Uptown, and this was our first dinner visit.   For a very small space, it was a comfy and charming space.  Noise level surprisingly  low.  With another couple we shared 3 appetizers.  Shrimp cocktail, calamari and oysters.  All delish and very fresh tasting.  Two of us had fish and chips, one fish tacos , and one tuna entree.  All excellent.  Service was very good, and although very busy we were not rushed.  We definitely plan on returning to this small gem.

Brussel sprouts surprisingly delicious and well balanced. The salmon was cooked to perfection, but the citrus glaze was a bit heavy, so I scrapped a layer off. The tacos were pretty good, albeit a little dry. Overall a good experience in a cozy dining environment.
