Sweet Basil Restaurant

Service was good and the place was a little old but cosy. The food was ok but not the best for the price in my opinion. The raviolis were quite expensive for a small quantity of them but it was good.

I went for the first time last week. The restaurant was beautiful. The server was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food tasted phenomenal. The only problem I had is that it seemed that windex might have been sprayed in my food by mistake. I could taste hints every few bites. I actually ate it anyways because I assumed that there was no chance that windex could be in my food. I paid $50+ for the meal and left without making a fuss. It wasnt until I got home that it was explained to me that I had tasted ammonia, not windex, which is a harmless but common occurrence as fish starts to age. I called and spoke with some man, representing himself as the owner with the intention of telling him so that he wouldnt serve it to other patrons. I didnt want a refund or any compensation. Not only did he disagree and argue with me, he did not apologize and eventually just hung up the phone. Saying that he just got the fish yesterday. It was Chilean Sea Bass. Satisfaction is not guaranteed there. I would certainly have gone back because the food was very well seasoned and cooked, but his response to my feedback will prevent me from spending any more money there. Potato creme soup was the best Ive ever had by the way.

Sweet Basil is a special place for our family for the last 32 years. We celebrated my Daughter's high school graduation there, and her son's high school graduation there. It just feels like home...

Great neighborhood restaurant with the most wonderful owner and staff. I love this place for dining at the bar as well as take out. They always remember my name and my drink!
