My experience with Indio has been awful. I signed a lease with them last April. On our first week there, we met a neighbor who said she felt bad for us because the apartments had rodent problems and the property was selling within the month and that everyone would be kicked out. Well, she was right. We have battled rodents and even roaches during our entire lease. Maintenance would do what they could (when they came) but pest control never came because they wouldn't pay for it, I'm assuming since they knew they were selling, why spend money. When we found rat droppings in our drawers, damaging clothing, our manager felt so bad she gave us a discount for all the trouble we'd had. We were grateful but soon after she was let go by Indio for doing so. Now after months of living this way, they have notified everyone that they have sold and will be breaking everyone's leases. The best part: WITH NO COMPENSATION. For the move, for application fees, for the termination of the lease, for the rodent troubles, and we don't even get our pet deposit back. Because all the sudden it is inhabitable. When really it has been inhabitable for who knows how long, but they continued to rent and make money for as long as they could. So we won't be renting from them again.

I can't tell if they're about to demolish The Edge apartment complex on Gaston or if they're doing a deep renovation. There's a dumpster parked at the back of the complex and a huge pile of debris at the very back. Certain areas are taped off with plastic and I saw work when carrying things out of buildings. Some of the windows have been broken out or removed and there were holes in the roof. I had some friends who used to live there and they liked it. It's a very convenient location, right next door to Tom Thumb. White Rock Brewing and Starbucks. It's also just down the street from a filling station and Whole Foods and close to Lakewood post office. So I hope if they're tearing it down that they're going to build another nicer apartment complex there.
