I understand this is a small business, but I also feel like an honest review has its place. My sister had her wedding here in January of this year. The venue is very reasonable as far as the price. The size, aesthetic, access times, supply closet, monthly design gathering, etc. are great. I cant speak from the actual planning side of it, but when I went with my sister to speak with the owner it was a fine experience. I really recommend a planner though. The venue is priced for a DIY experience, but a coordinator is still needed for your day to run smoothly in my opinion. The owners are obviously familiar with their own property, but without the planner there I dont think it wouldve ran as good as it did. The bartending service was a huge miss for us as the family and as a guest. I didnt personally pay for the bar, so again, I cant speak to that portion, but I do know we did not explicitly understand that we could not take the unused alcohol with us or get a refund for the items not used. I believe its in the contract, but thats not how we understood it so that was a huge disappointment. The drinks struggled all night. They started strong and then were light by the end of the night. The margaritas were an interesting lime green color. Continuing on cocktail hour, I think more trash cans were needed. A lot of guests left trash on the tables because they didnt have a place to toss it or at least didnt know where to throw away. An easy fix! Another interesting tidbit, the family was there throughout the night and sat at an empty table to eat. I fully believe all vendors should have a sit down meal, but maybe not with the guests? It is a more casual venue and Ive heard other venues doing this before, but that was odd to me and quite a few other people. Not a make or break, but worth mentioning. Be mindful if you have a bridal party more than 3 people total and are paying for a professional hair and makeup team to come in, you may want to consider getting ready at another location. It was very tight. We were allowed to use the reception area for one artist, but the artist and us were very crammed in the suite. Additionally, we couldnt have alcohol while getting ready which weve never heard before so that too was disappointing. I also dont recalls any beverages being provided to us (water, soda, etc.) so be sure to bring something with you. Another suggestion for the venue, maybe add a mobile rod to hang up dresses. We didnt have anywhere to put or hang our dresses, especially with the limited space, so they ended up on the floor. Overall, it really wasnt a terrible experience which is why Im giving 3 stars. There are things that I wished were different from a bridal and guest perspective, but again for the price point it was okay. I think experiencing other venues, weddings and being a bride myself we had some of our expectations set higher, but price points were very different. All of these things are fixable, so ultimately I hope this doesnt deter you from booking or seeing this venue, but simply gives you insight from a different point of view. I think it was a good fit for them aside from these challenges.

About
Carriage Hills Ranch

When comparing venues, Carriage Hills Ranch is truly an authentic Texas Hill Country venue. Preserving Texas history with our family barn, that is over one hundred years old, we used it as the cornerstone to build our reception hall. We added to the natural beauty of the land by creating a gazebo overlooking our wet-weather lake, along with numerous other stunning features on the property. Centrally located between Austin and San Antonio, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, we offer the charm and hospitality you would expect to receive in Texas. We are blessed with beautiful scenery, located near fun attractions such as wineries, distilleries, and museums, and were one of the most affordable and unique venues in the Texas Hill Country. This means with a smaller budget (making great use of our decorations and beautiful outdoor areas), or a larger budget (designer gowns, specialty cakes, and helicopter rides), Carriage Hills Ranch, may be the ideal venue for your special day. Additionally, at Carriage Hills Ranch we offer hundreds of decor items in stock for use at no additional fee.
