I've been to several counselors for various reasons over the years. Madeline Alford is by far the best I've ever found. She's patient, kind, and very understanding. She always gives me the perfect advice in every situation. She helped me with grief counseling, anxiety, depression, and parenting issues. My teen granddaughter also sees Madeline on an as needed basis. She's been the perfect person to counsel my g-daughter, as well. We both feel very comfortable with Madeline, and will continue to see her for as long as we can. I highly recommend her to everyone seeking mental/ emotional health therapy.

I took my daughter to see her for counseling due to signs of depression and self-esteem issues. Prior to speaking with my daughter, she spoke with me one on one to get information on way I was seeking counseling. Five minutes into this conversation and I felt as if I should walk out. She spent most of the time interrupting me, Dismissing my concerns, and at some points outright insulting me. She also gave medical advice that in her position she is not qualified to give, questioning my ADHD diagnosis and the medicine which I was prescribed by a psychiatrist. Her words were why do you need that medicine if you arent in college? Why does it matter if you are scattered?. There are many women who have received a late in life diagnosis of ADHD due to the stigma that existed in her childhood because of the same attitudes that she expressed. At the end of the meeting she said in a mocking tone that I need counseling, which although I agree is true, this did not need to be said and that manner. Just in those 15 minutes I felt humiliated and gaslit. My daughter similarly thought her concerns were dismissed. The ultimate result of the session was her telling my daughter theres nothing wrong with you, you are just anxious and you get it from your mother. Maybe she helps some people, but all she did was make us feel worse.
