Bess Bistro

Bess Bistro has been on my restaurant bucket list for YEARS and it took the news of its closing to finally convince me to go. Now I'm a bit disappointed I hadn't gone sooner so that I could come back again and again! Love the cozy, upscale "basement" atmosphere, it made me feel like I was in some fancy hidden club. The jalapeno cornbread was delicious, and I LOVED the salt trio that came with it (lava salt was my favorite). For my entree I ordered the crawfish mac n cheese and the brussel sprouts, and both were very delicious. Bonus points to our server who totally played along when we asked if Jennifer Aniston had sat where we were sitting when she was in town a few weeks ago ;)

We had a great date night at this restaurant. First time and we will go back. We even saw Sandra and her son having dinner.

Had a great experience at Bess. I made my reservation via Open Table and requested that a bottle of wine be ready on the table when we arrived (celebrating an anniversary). When we arrived it was all set-up and they had a card signed by the staff congratulating us on our anniversary. Well done! The food was well prepared and service great. The scallops were great and flank steak had great flavor. Decor was chic. I would recommend.

Not really sure all the hype here, went here with a group of people and none of us was impressed. the food wasn't all that great and the service was so so. I enjoy Walton's much more and that too is also owned by Sandra Bullock. Maybe the time I went it was a fluke, but I have yet to try it again, because Austin has so many places to go to.

A nice place for a romantic dinner or quiet rondezvous. Or maybe a not so quiet gathering with friends and family. The space comes across as cozy. The food is good, a bit pricey for what you get but the ambiance more than compensates.
