3.5 stars. Nice location for hills and river views and activities, but far from Austin and the airport if that matters to you. I was here for a business meeting, so I had more limited time to enjoy every amenity (plus it was drizzly, so that was a buzzkill). The indoor swimming pool was fine and the gym was nicely situated with big windows overlooking the river. Meals were hit or miss. Cafe staff was friendly, but a bit frazzled in some instances so I opted not to ask too many questions. Food was decent, not amazing. Rooms were fine, but frumpy. Overall, for these premium all-inclusive nightly rates, I expect a lot more (fortunately, mine was paid for by the meeting hosts). Compared to other similar spa/resorts Ive been to elsewhere, Lake Austin seemed to underdeliver on service and quality.

I am not someone who often leaves a review unless Ive experienced an extreme experience. Unfortunately, I cannot leave a review for the actual resort because after booking their most expensive room ($7000+ for just two nights) online and the $2000 credit card hold, confirming the accommodation later that day over the phone, paying for flights to get to Texas, and booking their water taxi service (again, on the phone with someone from their staff), they called today and canceled the reservation because they accidentally double booked the last room. The lady who called me did not care that we had already paid for non-refundable flights and were going there for a specific date. She offered to rebook another date, which was no use to us, and appeared unsympathetic for our situation. Not only is there mistake going to cost us since we paid for the flights and other activities around this trip, but we now also have to wait for the $2000 hold to be released back to us, and was left feeling like we were more of an inconvenience than a potential customer. Very disappointed with this experience, or lack thereof. I would like to say the lady who we spoke to originally who confirmed our reservation was nice (although I wish she would have mentioned we didnt actually have a room), as was the lady who reserved our water taxi.

Update: The Spa renovations are amazing. Worth the wait! All new resurfacing on the pools, updated locker rooms, facilities (steam, whirlpool, jacuzzi) and they built a cool new boutique space. Also, Im excited for the new cold plunge space thats coming! My comfort zone facial was so relaxing and I looked rested & hydrated for days with the lymphatic face massage. Old review: Ive always had amazing experiences at this top-rated resort. The staff is friendly, tidy & everything runs well managed. I like the recent changes in decor, as well as the safety policies surrounding covid. Spa services & therapists are on point and very experienced in techniques. They also offer a wide array of professional & boutique products in their shop. The grounds are lovely and well kept, with a variety of quiet spaces to curl up and read a book or focus on self care. The classes offered are a lovely touch & theres freedom to guest itineraries to join in as many or little activities as youd like. From fitness to creative arts, theres much to explore. Plus if you dont prefer group settings, all classes and hikes can be taken privately. The lake activities were a hit each time with wine cruises, paddleboarding, kayaking, pedalboards & tubing. Dont forget your swim suit! The food is incredible, organic, fresh, and often homegrown in the garden. The chef demonstrations are my absolute favorite and they can accommodate any allergy safely.
