Fort Houston is a fantastic makerspace. I joined in 2019 and cant imagine pursuing my hobby for furniture-making anywhere else.
They have wood shop and metal shops (run by full time professional staff since since the fall of 2021! I think a few of the older posts here predate the shop managers), art studios, a gallery, and an artist residency program.
I am continually blown away by the amount of skill in this building and Ive learned a ton being a member of the fort Houston community.

Fort Houston is an artists playground. 20,000+ square feet in the heart of Nashville, TN - less than 5 minutes from downtown. There is a 6,000 sq ft woodworking shop, a 6,000 sq ft metalworking shop, a beautiful coworking space, offices for rent, suites available for rent, a gallery, studio lofts. You name it! If you are an artist and you live in Nashville, then you must check out this place!
*Update- if you use reclaimed wood at all then fort Houston will not allow you to be a member. Also depending on the amount of wood that you are working with in the woodshop, they may try to force you into a more expensive monthly plan. When I met with them about membership I had 20 boards that I needed to plane and I was hoping to join at the $200 membership level but the staff told me that I would have to have a more expensive plan to be able to use the shop space based on the number of boards I needed to work with. (20 boards over the course of a month is not a lot!)
So keep that in mind if you are thinking of joining Fort Houston. Fort Houston is basically a beginners space for people who are just getting started or for older people who are retired and just looking to piddle around. So if you are a beginner and just getting into creating this would be a great place for you to go but if you are more advanced then youll want to look elsewhere.

Did not personally look at buying a space but has a great set up with new ambitious ideas coming. Has a woodshop and metal shop. Sounds like if you just need a place to work or start a new business then they have the tools and experience to help you.

You have to see this place!!! A non profit production house with an art venue and studio for music. Also, direct-to-garment machine for merchandise. It's got a lot to see!
