I am currently a full-time student at ETSU and have no checking account of my own at this time, mainly because when I left work to hurry up and get my degree, I did not realize that my account had over-drafted and I have yet to pay that off (I'm waiting until I go back to work), which means I am not eligible to open my own checking account until I can. That was explained fully to the teller at the Church Hill branch of this bank when I asked her if I could get the refund of my student loan direct deposited into my mother's account (which is actually extremely common among college students), and she even printed off my mother's account information (my mother was with me and we had her full permission). So, I set it up. The day my funds arrived, the main branch in Kingsport called our house to say that I had to come down there and get my name on the account or they were sending it back. They did not care that it was their own employee's ignorance that led to this debacle in the first place, and apparently the branch manager doesn't know the difference between "illegal" and "against institution policy," as he apparently informed the lady that called me that what I had done was illegal. It is not illegal, just obviously against their policy, which all of their employees should know in case it ever comes up again. I had my funds direct deposited into my fiancee's account the past two semesters at GreenBank, and would have kept doing that had he not closed that account. Never had a problem. Bank of America and other national banks don't care either ~ because IT IS COMPLETELY LEGAL. Anyway, they sent the payment back and now I can't buy my books and am getting behind because I have to wait for a paper check from ETSU. All because their tellers don't know their POLICIES.
