We recently returned from our vacation in the Black Hills and stayed at Alta Vista (a Deadwood Connections property). The place was great, with more than enough room for our group of 8 (plus a baby). Large deck with hot-tub and propane grilled was used most mornings and many evenings. (though we didn't use the hot-tub, just enjoyed the deck). Full kitchen with most items you will need for cooking, etc. It's close to Spearfish Canyon (one of my favorite locations in the Hills) as well as Deadwood and Lead (gotta visit Sanford Underground Lab-surprisingly interesting). It's a little longer drive to many of the more popular areas (Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, etc.) but the scenic drive makes it worth it. Great communications from Deadwood team. When I come back, I'll use them again.

The place we stayed in was NOT cleaned after the last visitor. The garbage can outside was full. I had to remove the sheets and wash them. The shelf in the fridge was broke and was duct taped to try to fix it and didn’t hold. The glass door was filthy with finger prints. The lighting in the bathroom was horrible. The whole place needed to be dusted. I guess I expect to have a clean place that we are paying a lot of money to stay in. I had also tried calling someone before we went out there for a little more info and had left a message, and nobody ever called me back. It is in a nice area though, for things to do in Deadwood and Lead. We rode four wheelers right from there also, so that was handy.
