The Sombrero Restaurant - South of the Border

We are so happy that we took the time to go have dinner at the Sombrero Restaurant during our stay at South Of the Border. We each ordered steak dinners with baked potatoes and corn. And the food was hot, fresh and delicious. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating, our drinks were refilled, and the atmosphere was casual and relaxing. We can't wait to come back again.

Bad food and bad service. Our food was nasty and super salty. Had the waitress told me they had a freezer full of microwave dinners that they reheat and sell I would have completely believed it.

I got a coupon from the hotel. I ate the Reuben sandwich. It was well made. The waitress with the Southern accent was very charming.

We had seven in our party. We started off with the hostess who did not have much of a disposition. Didn't say much, took us to a table with 5 chairs, put the menus on the table and walked away. Thought maybe she was getting 2 more chairs, but thay was wishful thinking, we drug our own from the other side of the room. Sat for a LONG time waiting for the waitress and we found out there was only one, but when she finally arrived she was very nice and took our order after about a good 15-20 minute wait. I am usually not that patient, but friends had arrived in town who we had not seen inba while so we just talked. We ordered sandwiches and the food was very good. Were thinking about the salad bar but 14.95 is too much to charge with a meal. Having lived in the north, finding food in the South I am used to is very hard and when I saw a Reuben on the menu I got a little excited. Switched out the rye (had seeds) for sourdough and the saurkraut for coleslaw and had my hopes up. I wasn't disappointed, it was excellent. Rhe food arrived quicker than we waited to be waited on. The waitress was very friendly (unlike the hostess you meet first), and all in all we had a nice time.
