This place is new and it's obvious they still have a lot to figure out. We were given a small bowl of balsamic vinegar and then asked if we wanted bread. The bread they served was doughy/not cooked enough. French onion soup was seasoned with sage or tarragon, so not a traditional FOS, but was decent. Our waitress was quirky. It was too bright in there and the car headlights through the windows were annoying. This is definitely a hang out place for locals. The owner doesn't talk to people he doesn't know, so it feels like you're back in high school. It's ok and we'll be back.

Stopped in 286 club last night after my nephews baseball game. We were a party of five. The atmosphere was quiet for a Friday night. The food was fantastic! I had the pan seared scallops accompanied with a creamy orzo topped with broccoli cauliflower and a port wine reduction. There were other flavors I just cannot describe it. It was delicious. We also had the nachos for the table, and that dish was very tasty as well. At the end of our meal, on our way out, my dad asked about the chef to the young host and he told him this story which I believe to be the catalyst of this not so well known restaurant. The new executive chef at 286 Club performed on the Food Network's Chopped! Now that's impressive for a small town in Rhode Island to have him running the back of house of a new up and coming restaurant! Well I wanted to know more about this Chopped winning chef, and googled him and to my dismay, I havent been able to find much information about him. It would be a great story to advertise on 286 Club website! I know our family wanted to know more, and I am sure it would intrigue others to come and try this little gem of a sports bar! Wishing the best of luck to the executive chef and the owners of 286 Club. I would reccomend this restaurant and will go back again soon!
