image I have both of my children into this program and, so far, we have been coming to Kumon for 5 years. I credit this program for improving my children's education amd my oldest now is ahead of class by at least 1 year. The youngest one is coming along as well.
There are two things that make a program like this successful: the child's desire and motivation to work and the parent's consistency in keeping the child into this program. This program needs solid work every day but how else one can achieve progress? Angela and her staff don't have the magic bullet to snap their fingers and make knowledge go into the kid's brain. Kumon offers a way , through work of the child, and commitment of the parents to go forward and improve the children's academics.
If you don't believe in work after school, in homework or in repetition as the principle for learning, then this program is not for you. That means that instead of making ridiculous claims and spilling your anger on this website against Angela and her staff, you should look for another program that makes sense to you.
I am part of an ethnic group, and I smile, yes, Angela does't take advantage of my understanding of the current economic situation; this is such an ignorance to believe that being part of an ethnic group means you are less educated or you don't understand nuances of English Language. So, to the one reviewer of Kumon performance who spilled her anger on this site, ethnic groups generally speak a good English and understand the economic and social circumstances as good as anyone else.
Again, understand the Kumon program, understand and know your child and the child's desire and capability to add extra work every day and examine your ability as a parent to commit to bringing the child in the Kumon Center, once or twice a week, long term.
My kids benefit from this program. Angela and her staff have been very accommodating and put great effort into my kid's academics. We are very happy with the Kumon and think the world of this program!

image If this business were properly managed, I would perhaps be able to give it a higher rating.
We had reached out to ask for a refund since we were charged for two months in which we did not receive any service. Knowing that there is a pandemic going on, we also wanted to cancel the account because there were more dire finances to attend to, as well as the online learning experience not being the most beneficial for a 12 year old. In the email sent to Angela, she briefly talks about the refund but changes the topic to stocks and our economy? Which has no correlation to the fact that we wanted to remove our son from this establishment. She then attaches an article about economic rates in the email. This rises another topic: majority of families that enroll their students in this establishment come from a different ethnic background and the woman who runs this business preys on this fact, hoping that she could throw us off guard with a topic that had nothing to do with the situation at hand. I then went to research more into the woman who runs this business to find out she works in a nearby high school, as a World Language teacher. This explains why our son always comes home and asks US to teach him the material that we are paying them to do which was math.
If you’re looking to enroll your child, please do look around for other options first before settling for this establishment. Our son didn’t benefit from this program as much as we hoped and the owner lacks the professionalism that we look for in a tutor. This pandemic really opened our eyes to which business actually care about their clients, and this is not one of them. The owner is money hungry and has no concern for the students and families she "tutors".
We have also email recently again, in hopes to get a refund and she did not reply. There is no professionalism that comes with this woman, Angela Schmiesing.

Mixed reviews: We appreciate Angela and her staff for their commitment to all the children going to their location. After 17 months of our children going it was clear it was time for them to stop in our point of view. Our daughter had done well in the reading program and helped her get caught up to grade level; our son not so much. He has made little to no progress. Seventeen months is a long enough commitment to give the program a fair evaluation and also the time requirement for the parents is also something that can be burdensome.
Our son may have learning difficulties for reading that we are having our physician evaluate but excels at math. Our daughter is not sure of herself when it comes to math. After the 17 months we told Angela that it is time for different reasons that we withdrawal our children and thanked her for her and the staffs efforts.
We are being held to the contract that says we must give a months notice. Fair enough. Its bad business but we will continue since we will be charged. It does seem odd though because we signed our daughter up to math after a week of the month had started and they charged us for the entire month. So like Vegas the house wins financially all the time.
The time requirement for the parents as well is something to think about before signing up to Kumon. It is a daily ongoing thing with two trips to the center a week. Our kids averaged an hour a day of homework each on top of their regular school work and most of the time our help needed. Add this to your work schedule, life and two weekly trips into the center of another hour or two wait it is just a stress that at this time we felt we needed relief from especially when weighed against the results.
