image I WISH I COULD GIVE DR. PATRICIA WONG A ZERO!
The Good: The Anesthesiologist, Nurses, and Tech were all very personable and helpful.
The Bad: Dr. Wong lacks communication skills. She didn't go over the actual discharge diagnosis with my mother after my mother's procedure. We requested to see Dr. Wong so that she could explain the discharge diagnosis and we were told that Dr. Wong gone in to start her next procedure. So we were given computer printed papers on what the diagnosis meant. We could have googled that information ourselves. Dr. Wong is not a thorough physician at all. She needs Bedside Manners 101 and Communication Skills 101.

image Follow Up: After only a few days at home and virtually no instructions as to his diet, my family member ended up back in the hospital due to bleeding. The discharge instructions from the first visit included information about adding fiber to your diet but no real diet restrictions or instructions - however it did say eat foods that are high in fiber for diverticulosis. Now, we're back dealing with another ER visit during COVID and the current doctor is recommending a low fiber diet for two weeks which only makes logical sense to me and I feel that we should have been instructed to do something like this the first time. Needless to say we're not very pleased.
After taking my family member to the ER for rectal bleeding during COVID, we were told the next day he would be taken for an endoscopy and colonoscopy. The day of the procedure, the Attending Physician told my elderly family member they were only going to do a colonoscopy - since Barrett's Esophagus is also a condition we thought with advanced age and previous history of colon and prostate cancer along with Barrett's Esophagus it would make sense to do both given he would be under anesthesia and the procedure wouldn't take very long. Since we couldn't be there the patient texted us and we followed up with the nurse before the procedure to find out why. After multiple messages to Dr. Wong which they could see were read, no response was given. I finally received a call after the procedure was done and the patient was home from the hospital - not from Dr. Wong but from the "Fellow". Yes he apologized and gave his reasoning but I'm extremely disappointed with the communication and I am still not convinced that if it was their family member they would not have done the endoscopy while they had them under anesthesia. Yes these are difficult times for everyone and the importance of communication could be the difference between getting the right thing done for your loved one. I would not recommend especially during COVID! However I would like to say the ER Team and the nurses I spoke with were beyond helpful despite how extremely busy they are so I thank them for being there for us and communicating with us and taking good care of my family member during a very overwhelming few days!
