Steel Cactus Mexican Restaurant and Cantina

As I was placing my order, an airport worker who was not wearing a mask leaned over the part of the counter that is not protected by a shield and proceeded to hold a conversation with one of the workers…literally right next to the food! I stopped ordering and walked away. DISGUSTING!

Uff... this was a tough one. The staff is nice and courteous but the food is really bad. God knows we tried. We tried their cheese and it was 3 bars above salty. I got a bowl with beef and the beef was dry like chalk. My wife got the salad and she was not able to finish it. We decided to get a coffee and a donut instead than finishing the food. If the food ever meets the nice attitude of the staff, this place could thrive. Sadly, it is far from there. I truly hope they get better.

I ordered a quesadilla and barely any pico was on it, so I politely asked if the individual making it could add a bit more. She told me, "no, I can put it in the side but not the inside". So I said "ok, it just doesn't look like a lot which is why I asked" (again, trying to be polite, I've worked in food service I get it). She then said "well there's 4 ounces in there so" really rudely. I took a picture below, does not look like 4 ounces at ALL. I just wanted another small grab full. I get rules, but being rude about it doesn't help anyone. And unless you're measuring it, which she wasn't, don't tell me it's exact. Annoyed especially for the price...I get it's airport food but I'm not trying to pay extra for food that should already be on it...

One of the better options here if you have dietary restrictions. The flavors are good and it doesn't taste too salty. Can be pretty healthy if you opt for the salad or naked bowl. The chicken is tender and juicy. Good drink selection, Naked and other juices. It is a bit pricey for how much food you get but not bad considering it is in the airport.

Arrived around 1045am, waited probably a minute or two for someone to show up at the front counter. Ordered a burrito, thinking it would be in the ballpark of other similar Tex Mex joints, quickly find no grilled peppers, just onions. Fair enough. Ordered the cilantro rice and chicken with some fixins burrito. The lady was nice enough and heated it on a griddle at the end, I dug in, quickly realizing the lack of any substantive flavor. Tasted like the chicken was unseasoned and boiled. The cilantro rice was extremely bland, lacking in cilantro. The texture was a combination of mush and hard rocky uncooked rice that I had to spit out. If you are thinking this is similar to chipotle, or even QDoba you will be sorely disappointed. Not even what I would call "decent" flavor or texture food. I don't normally get sick to my stomach, but stomach pain started within hours of eating here, luckily made it off my flight first... Will definitely not be visiting this place again.
