My table arrangement of flowers for a special dinner exceeded my expectations. At $59 including the vase, and prepared in just 90 minutes, it was a great service. Although I was looking for African Velvet which is my tradition with my BFF who I haven't seen before covid, they had a delightful selection of red roses. I asked for white daisies as their complement and they selected lots of varying sizes to offset the roses. Set in a delightful glass cube vase and with stems surrounded by a greenery wrap that looked like cucumber (!! Fun !!!) it was watered, set in layers of thick paper, wrapped in plastic and placed at the front of the store for easy pickup. I really look forward to using Orchid again when supply chain challenges are resolved and we can be even more creative with floral selections and designs. Tip: Orchid is the official flower shop for the Palomar hotel around the corner. Speak with the concierge and they can have special arrangements placed in your room or restaurant for special events.

THIS IS NOT THE WORK OF ORCHID FLOWER SHOP: Our daughter was married in Philadelphia this past weekend--in a snowstorm. Months ago we approached Orchid Flower Shop about doing the flowers for her wedding. They were recommended by the church. They told us to contact them closer to the time and we would flesh out the details. I reached out to them again in November and showed them examples of the aesthetic we were looking for. They advised that although they weren't sure what types of flowers would be available, they could nevertheless give us the look we wanted. I was told we would be emailed a proposal. By December we'd heard nothing. When we were about a month and a few days out from the wedding, we contacted a florist near where we live in New Jersey. Julia Ramos accepted the job and delivered in ways exceeding what we imagined. She was so committed to the work that in the middle of a nor'easter, she showed up and decorated both the sanctuary and the reception venue beautifully. Orchid was one street over from the church and couldn't even bring themselves to actually say "no" to the job. They just didn't respond--although they said they would. By contrast, a florist 35 miles away drove through the snow because she was committed and refused to allow the weather to ruin our daughter's special day. That's not just good customer service. That's respect for the people you serve. Orchid on the other hand? No respect. I wouldn't buy a packet of seeds from them.
