Dr. Steckler's nurse practitioner Paula was exceptional with our son; she has an wonderful warm manner with him interspersed with humor and compassion that made him feel comfortable discussing his intimate urological problems. I would highly recommend this office to anyone with a child who needs urological services.

Dr. Steckler NP Paula amazing!! She was so sweet to my son and answered all my questions and concerns about my 9 month old baby boy. Im glad i seen her and hope to see her my next visit.

I had to speak with someone who was in charge of client satisfaction because my experience was suboptimal. Dr. Steckler, I was told, was called away but I think that he really had to leave to go to his other office. Yes, we were late but in my defense, no one from your scheduling department gave me a heads up that their was serious construction going on. It was difficult to find parking and then a patient misdirected me toward the building adjacent to the McDonald House. It was a zoo in the parking lot area and created serious tardiness. So, my son didn't see Dr. Steckler. His NP, Paula was not at all excpetional as the other person commented on her. she came into the room, didn't introduce herself, was wearing a dingy sorority t-shirt, pulled up one of those big trash cans to sit on while she charted. As a nurse, I know that what she did was beyond unsanitary. Thank G-d, she didn't lay her dirty hands on my son. From the moment that she walked into the room, she treated me like "aint nobody got time to listen to you." She was short and evasive with me. My questions that I had been waiting so long to get answered did not get answered at all. When I asked her what a term meant, she just said "Oh they are just small dots". Well, small dots on a CT scan of my son's kidney doesn't really tell me anything. And when I mentioned something about a large stone in the other kidney, she told me that it didn't matter what the CT scan report that I had said". So, I didn't get that question about whether or not this particular stone would be a problem in the future. If I wanted to meet with a nurse practitioner than I would have scheduled for a nurse practitioner. No, I made the appointment with Dr. Steckler and just because his scheduling staff didn't have the courtesy to forewarn me about the maddness going on due to construction and that I should give myself and extra amount of time on top the extra amount of time I gave myself, we had to get pushed off to someone who by no means reassured me that she knew what she was talking about. She seemed more like a family practice NP than someone who is supposed to be specialized (perhaps?). Plain and simple, she is not a pediatric urologist. I highly value NPs. My son's primary doctor's office has the absolute best NP. And I really don't care if someone wears a sorority t-shirt, even though it isn't professional, to work, but please wear a clean one. And how can I trust a person who thinks that it is okay to sit on a trash can? However, I might have overlooked all of that, if she had the decency to be compassionate and empathetic toward me.
