Their coffee is very good. Done of the baked goods are terrific, but not all. I don't care for the scones. The sandwiches are really exceptional. Particularly the breakfast sandwiches. They are done if the best in the city, and I don't just mean the best vegan breakfast sandwiches. All around.

Gluten free bagels we're not very good. I appreciate that it seems like they tried to make their own instead of just using store bought like a lot of places, but it was definitely worse than a GF bagel from the grocery store. Had an undercooked clay-like texture. It is also hard to order there, and impossible if you happen to be out of data when you go - they make you order online and there's no WiFi. Probably fine for most people but something to know if it's toward the end of the month and your little brother used all the data on your family plan, hypothetically speaking.

I have actually enjoyed the drinks and food I have ordered here in the past, but am pretty disappointed with the current service at this location. I went by Grindcore House West the other day to order something on my way downtown. A person came to the door to ask if I was picking up, but when I said I wanted to order a coffee, they refused to take my order in person, instead indicating I should go to the online menu using my phone. My phone was dead but before I could let the employee know, they had gone back inside. They request you do not knock on the door/window. (side note: the sign indicating this is not the best it reads "KINDLY PLEASE do not KNOCK" with the "kindly please knock" portion more emphasized than the "do not" making it easy to mis-read if you're scanning quickly and have never been before. I know, I made the mistake my first time, and when I apologized for it, got a very cold response. Yikes.) Anyway because of the 'no knocking' request, there's no way to easily get a barista's attention easily. I just wanted to order a coffee. :/ I wound up cutting my losses and walking away so I didn't miss the trolley. I understand that COVID precautions are still in place, and that it makes it easier & more comfortable for the Grindcore employees to have customers wait outside for their orders, but it would be nice if the default were not to just point people to the QR code and instead there were a way for people to order who don't have access to data/a smartphone. It's not very inclusive and the whole process currently is quite frustrating.

They usually give me what I ask for on my sandwich "mustard" because I don't eat Mayo, hummus, other stuff. I asked for mustard via the app to order from, but when I got my sandwich, it had no mustard, they took it soon themselves to put some kinda runny sauce that looked and tasted like Mayo on it $11.00 waisted, ordered another one and again , they refuse to put mustard on my bread, they put the same ole creamy sauce looked kinda like lite green Mayo of some kind. So that was just a all around bad day from them the west Philly store "although it's not really west Philly" it's Chester Ave, up the street from that free clinic everybody used to go to back in the day, when they call ya name all loud and tell ya business . So anyways I'll give them a break for a few months, and go back to their other location in south Philly, close to south street. Hopefully they'll have more than one variety of mustards to choose from. The sandwiches are good, and their sweet peppers actually taste sweet. Yes that day I bought 2 sandwiches for $11.00 each and they just kept doing it their way, not like I asked. But their cake/bread slices are really good. It's a vegan shop for those who are new to vegan as myself. I'm black and we definitely have different taste buds from them "yes scientifically proven" which means if i say it tastes good, then it really does taste good. Just takes some getting used to ordering exactly what and how you want if from the app. All vegan food do not taste good, in fact some vegan restaurants I ordered from was horrible and expensive . Grindcore sandwiches are good , just order it from the south Philly location, till the Chester Ave location get their act together and attitudes
