The staff used to be kinder. The hot chocolate was cool, but today was not fun when my girls were scolded for laughing too loud. A simple “inside voices†would have been sufficient lady, their 5 years old.

Let me start by saying that I believe any place that supports helping animals in need should be supported. With that said, me and my child had a horrible disturbing experience; nonetheless there needs to be more places like this not fewer. So we drove really far to visit. I had seen the cafe featured on TV and thought I had an idea of the space. I was wrong. The cafe is decorated really well but the space you interact with the cats is tiny. I mean the size of my dermatologist exam room. When I saw the size of that reserved space I immediately became uncomfortable. You're in there with strangers AND anxious cats. Imagine being in your doctor's office with 10 other people and eight cats. Umm... eek. Secondly, I didn't read the terms of the visit. Totally my fault. So I was surprised when the woman said $22 and a reservation was required to visit for an hour ($11 for me and my 8 year old). I had called to make sure they would be open and the very person I was speaking to didn't detail any of this over the phone. She just gave me a curt "yeah" when I asked if they would be open (Thanksgiving weekend). The staff was so dismissive. They were not directly rude ( no one yelled at us) but they made us feel so uncomfortable (the staff's responses were brief and impatient). Because I hadn't made a reservation we would have had to wait 90 minutes. I couldn't imagine subjecting my kid to that horrible energy and he was getting upset. I had looked into other shelters so I had a plan B so I decided to get us out of there. We ended up at Le Cat Cafe and had the best time. It does smell like cats (lol) but the space is huge and open. The woman volunteer was so sweet. She was kind to my child and let him run around and really interact with the cats. She explained each kitty's temperament and that was so helpful. We even got to see an adoption. It was fantastic. So again, anyone who needs to adopt should go where there is a need. I had a horrible unfortunate experience that I wouldn't want anyone else to have so I have to rate appropriately. Responding to owner: I did try to resolve the issue with your staff. It would have been more professional if you hadn't put into question my sophistication and understood by my comments I'm not interested in jepordizing your mission. As a parent my primary concern is for my son. I wanted his lesson to be of concern and compassion for animals and not the rude, ignorant disregard that we experienced. So my issue is not the cost, it was not the the space, (I admitted I didn't read the terms) my issue was your rude and unprofessional staff and NOW it's your unnecessary response. I love cats and definitely don't want kill shelters to exist and I also expect people to extend kind courtesy in a BUSINESS SETTING especially when families are making such important decisions regarding adding fur family members. Your mission does not excuse your staff's unacceptable behavior or your sad response.
