The case background will help anyone reading this know just how complicated the situation Joe had to handle.
My partner (a 24 year old gay male) and I live out of state and were introduced to Joe during one of the most scariest and difficult times in our lives.  Our story is extenuating and it’s hard to put the entire experience into perspective. We contacted Mr. Capone on the recommendation of his colleague (who we retained for charges my partner faced in New Jersey from the same series of events). My partner suffers from bipolar disorder and left New York on a 3 day “road trip” while off of his medications, thinking he was being followed and poisoned and that his death was imminent. This very sad and frightening experience took him from NY through 3 other states, no sleep, no medications and minimal contact. My family and I contacted the police, who ultimately authorized a missing persons report. He was located in the suburbs of Philadelphia and taken involuntarily to a local hospital. He was diagnosed with acute psychosis and mania and severe dehydration.  My partner finished his 8 days at this hospital and was released. He was showing great improvement on his new medications and decided to visit his family out of the country for the summer and seek outpatient treatment there. After 2 months with his family and outpatient treatment he was ready to come back to NY. He was feeling great about his mental state and future. Upon landing in New York he was arrested on an outstanding warrant and had to wait 17 days before being extradited to Philadelphia.  He had been accused of rape, forcible touching, harassment and other misdemeanors while a patient at the Philadelphia hospital. These very serious charges carry lengthy prison sentences if convicted, as well as sex offender registration. Needless to say we were dumbfounded and it shook us to our core. How could my boyfriend be accused of raping a woman while being involuntarily held, diagnosed with psychosis and mania? It was then we reached out to Mr. Capone.
Joe responded within minutes and from the first moment of speaking with him, I knew he was our guy. He made each stage of the process clear. Mr. Capone was very compassionate and understanding. He is a thinking person, his experience and stellar reputation in criminal defense is overt. He demonstrated a human element and treated us like family. He ensured and facilitated the quick and swift release from jail of my partner once he was in Philadelphia jurisdiction. We shared many texts, phone calls and zoom meetings over the course of 2 months. He prepared us for all potential outcomes and set up goals along the way. He is smart, well respected among his cohort, professional and organized.
The outcome could not have been any more favorable. The case was dismissed. Their conversations with the judge and prosecutor helped ensure my partners freedom.
