This museum is amazing. The special exhibits and programming are notable and top notch in their variety, depth, and presentation . Its regular collection is extraordinary. A gem in the city of Philadelphia. Dont miss it.

We're working hard to rediscover our Jewish roots along my mother's side, and I'm very grateful to them for this beautiful, interesting museum with context on most of the pieces. It's also not so big, so you can visit and feel satisfied in just a few hours rather than feeling pressured to spend hours and hours or days and days. I wish it were a little more kid-friendly.

Beautiful museum. Lots of great Jewish art. Learned a lot about the artistic tradition of the Jewish people. Very impressed. Also very doable in an afternoon. Not as overwhelming as some really large museums.

The Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art (PMJA), located within historic Congregation Rodeph Shalom is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art that illuminates the Jewish experience. Since 1975, the PMJA has organized solo and group exhibitions of work in the broadest range of mediums by artists of diverse backgrounds. In addition to its special-exhibit gallery, the Museum features a permanent collection of important works by accomplished artists, including William Anastasi, Chaim Gross, Tobi Kahn, Joan Snyder, Shelley Spector, Boaz Vaadia and Roman Vishniac.
