This is reputable company, but I feel taken advantage of this year. . had same chimney cleaning as last year, and price was $60.00 more this year for no inspection services and my problem is still not solved. When I made the appointment and asked the price this year, I was told 'it depends on the condition of the chimney.' My new chimney is only 8 years old barely has any soot in it. I wanted a duct work inspection because of a serious noise that comes from the chimney when I burn. Didn't happen.. Last year the bill was $199.00 before tax, this year it was $259.00 (and with tax the bill was $275.00! ) For nothing but a quick brush from inside the house. He never even went up on the roof to inspect my chimney cap either, which has a lot of black soot around it and is still concerning for me. I have been worried about thumping sounds from the duct work in the chimney when burning, a constant sound that I worry if it's safe to burn.. I thought a camera would be used or something, or even look down from the roof. When I asked if he was going up there to check out the cap and duct work, he said he "looked up there from inside the fireplace, and that he looked up when outside and the chimney cap 'seemed fine.' Doesn't seem like a real way inspect a chimney and cap to see if there's loose duct work or any problems when clearly there is.. He didn't even use a flashlight or anything. It was brushed from the inside of the fireplace and hardly anything came out. He wasn't here long, and because he never gave a real inspection of either, I don't feel this huge increase is warranted. I still have the problem when I burn wood and now have to pay someone else for a 'real' inspection because i'm afraid of this constant scary thump sound every time I burn. The drastic increase in the price for no inspection service of my issue, just a quick brushing, with no overhead either, I don't feel is warranted. I attached the bills for comparison. Great service! And, Im really glad I called Mauch Chunk Chimney Sweep We had concerns after disconnecting the propane & reached out to Kevin. He & his staff always kept in touch & were happy to help! We were burning candles inside the hearth & needed a cleaning to ensure the years of critters & Halloween cobwebs were no longer a nightmare!!
