Had a bad experience and I will not be depositing any additional money here. My mom had a CD mature in February that could've been renewed for another year at 5.2%. I called to renew it, but they automatically renewed it at a rate of 3.5% instead. Meanwhile, I had another CD that was about to mature and they allowed me to renew that one at 5.2%. Despite their prevailing 1-year rate being over 5%, they chose to lock the first CD at 3.5%, over 1.5% below their prevailing rate. It doesn't make sense that by calling in to approve a one year extension of the CD you would have given me 5.2%, but if I don't call, it gets automatically renewed for the same term, but 1.7% lower than if I had called. Wouldn't you think that if the bank didn't hear back, the most conservative and ethical think would have been to either give the current prevailing rate of 5.2% or NOT lock it up for another year and move it into my savings account or do nothing until I provide instructions. Very disappointed with the way the bank handled this.
