image Philadelphia row home with narrow doors. Special size replacement doors was difficult to find and after COVID lock down impossible; no one was making a 27" door. I tried, even my contractor, actually two, could not locate a manufacturer. Last ditch effort I stopped at Mantus on Easton Road, Glenside. Eureka!!! Not only did they meet my size specifications, I scored lovely gray exterior & storm doors that coordinates with my new siding.

image Nice company to deal with. Family owned. Good but not overwhelming selection. Have used them for years.

image I had an odd experience with Matus. I called to set up an estimate to purchase 9 ProVia windows and have them installed. My information was passed on to an estimator to schedule an in-home estimate. The estimator called the same day to tell me that they aren't scheduling any new estimates because they are too busy. I tried to clarify when they would be scheduling new estimates. The estimator cut me off to reiterate that they aren't scheduling new estimates.
Either the company communication is exceptionally poor (the receptionist did not seem aware of any hold on new estimates) or the estimator was being dishonest with me.

image Very disappointing experience. I purchased two Marvin windows through Matus Windows. The workmanship was shoddy. See attached pictures of the sloppy caulking and poor joints. After receiving them, I called the store to speak to my salesman and was rudely chastised for calling at closing time.
The windows were ordered again with the request that they not have visible mounting holes on the inside of the frame. John, my salesman told me that this request could be accommodated and to expect the windows in 3 weeks. 5 Weeks later the windows arrive WITH 7 holes drilled in the frame. At no time was I told that this request could not be accommodated. I would have cancelled my order and ordered from someone else. I thought I was dealing with a premium window manufacturer and a high quality distributor. I found neither to be true. Go elsewhere.
Response to owner:
#1- I did not SPECIFICALLY request 7 large holes be drilled in the frame of a stationary window. I could easily have drilled much less conspicuous holes so that they were not visible after install.
#2- You told me that the replacement ones would be made WITHOUT mounting holes. Upon hearing from Marvin that this wasn't possible, you never relayed that information to me.
#3- When I asked you if I should accept the windows with sloppy caulking- you told me that Marvin wanted to re-make the windows and the process would be expedited. I didn't request that the windows be re-made. I agreed when that was the only option presented to me.
#4- Yes, these are the pictures of the original windows. You proved my point that I was trying to make. If you buy Marvin windows through Matus, you should expect a sloppy product that THE CUSTOMER is expected to clean up and make ready for install. If you choose to return them, be prepared to wait at least 5 weeks for a replacement.
#5- Conclusion- If you buy windows from Matus, make sure you factor time to either scrape and clean caulk off of brand new windows or wait 5 weeks (12 weeks total from order date) for them to be remade.

Business Response on Google Nov 4th, 2023
It should be noted that the pictures that Mr. McManus posted are of the original windows and not the new windows that Marvin made up for him. The new windows did not have the excess sealant. The excess sealant, which could have been cleaned off, was the only issue with the original windows. On the original order, Mr. McManus specifically ordered the windows with the predrilled holes for through the jamb installation. The windows do come with plugs that will fill these holes after installation so the end product does not look like what is shown in the pictures. If a window needs to be reordered, Marvin will not under any circumstances change the details on the new window being ordered. Because the original window were ordered with predrilled holes as specified by Mr. McManus, the new windows were going to come out with predrilled holes. Even so, we did try ordering the remake windows without the holes but Marvin put them in as per their policy. Normal lead time for this window is 6 weeks. Sometimes on a remake we can get the windows in sooner and we did everything we could do to expedite the order. Mr. McManus was given guess of three weeks but was also told that three weeks was not a guarantee. We try very hard to make sure every customer is satisfied.
